Susan writes about horses, houses, and human foibles, including her own. She agrees with Prospero that “We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little lives are rounded with a sleep.” As such, she observes life with the bewildered detachment of the proverbial anthropologist from Mars. Humor is the only thing that keeps her sane and she recommends it, along with the usual--- but far more challenging--- practice of unconditional love, as an antidote to self-destruction.
